Waste Not Wednesday: My new bike jacket

In my on going search for the perfect cycling jacket, I recently picked up this wool hoodie at Goodwill. I want something breathable, light colored, warm --but not too warm--in the winter. Check, check, check. But I also want something with some reflectiveness to it. Well, I got crafty and this is what I came up with:

First I ironed on some reflective strips on the sleeves. I used strips of fusible webbing to adhere the reflective tape to the wool sleeves.

I was going to add 3 reflective stripes across the back, but then remembered I had scored big a few years ago when I got a remnant of IllumiNite fabric! So I decided to cut a snowflake and adhere that to the back of the jacket instead. I ironed Heat n' Bond onto the reverse side of the the IllumiNite, folded it and cut a snowflake out of it. Think back to elementary school craft time! Next I removed the Heat 'n Bond paperbacking and ironed it onto the jacket. Voila! My new wool hoodie cycling jacket!

very cool! it actually looks more like a bike gear than a snowflake. was that intentional? way to re "cycle"! :D

I could say it was intentional, but really I think I don't cut a very realistic snowflake. I thought it looked like a bike gear too, but wasn't sure anyone would see that. Thanks!
